How to Pick a Digital Product to Sell (and how to sell products you don’t have to make)

Getting started in the digital world is daunting on its own, let alone trying to decide what kind of product you want to sell and actually making it.

So I’m making it easy: I have a list of four products, what you need to make them, as well as the option to sell products you did not have to make.

First off we have Digital Courses. If you have valuable knowledge or something you need to get the word out on, this is a great option. To make one you need a presentation software, such as Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Canva. Both Google Slides and Canva are free, where Canva has a paid subscription option. You will also need a camera and/or a microphone, depending on whether you are comfortable being on camera. And then, of course, you have to make it.

Secondly, we have e-books. These are for you if you have valuable knowledge to share and don’t want to go through the hassle of recording a course, or if  you have a creative writing streak. Kids books, printable activity books, etc. are examples of these. To make them, you need Canva, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or a similar software, depending on your content. If you’re going more creative, Canva is the easiest to use in my experience!

Thirdly, we have digital planning tools. The benefits of these products are they do not require an insane amount of creativity or time to make. You can whip 6-8 of these babies out in an hour or two by just changing the colors and fonts on a design you already have. For these, similarly to ebooks, you need Canva, Google Docs, Work, or similar, with Canva being the easiest to use. Pinterest has a wealth of inspiration for this, so if you go and see what you like and how to edit it to fit your needs, you’re ready to go.

Lastly, we have stock content. If you have a camera, and love to take photos, this is the one for you. Content creators are often looking for stock images and B-Roll to use in their videos and posts, and are generally willing to pay a pretty penny for it! You just need a camera, and perhaps a photo editing software such as Krita (free), Photoshop (expensive), or Canva. For this, I definitely recommend Krita, it’s a great free software.

If you are in the camp I am in, where I did not have time or money to create products to sell, there are some other options: MRR and PLRs.

MRRs are Master Resale Rights, and with them you can take the course or product and sell it again at 100% profit. I have a great example of one here, that teaches you exactly how to sell it online, from necessary online setup to content to market. It’s by far the best one I’ve used.

PLRs are private label rights, which is a license agreement that allows someone to purchase the rights to a product or content and modify it as they see fit. I have these too, you can check it out here for an example. I took the template file, edited it to look like my brand, and now get to sell them for 100% profit while also learning some seriously helpful marketing information. You should note though, that most of these require a paid Canva Pro subscription.

With this info, you can go forth and create your products! If there’s anything you want to know about, please let us know!
